Receiver's journal (cash system), 1820-1834.

Lists receipts of payments for land and other transactions at the land office in Chillicothe. Each land entry includes date, amount paid, certificate number, purchaser's name, quarter section, section, township, range, number of acres, rate per acre, and total amount due. Some entries list amounts transferred to and received from the federal government or existing accounts and include amount paid and reason for expenditure.

An act of Congress dated May 10, 1800, established federal land offices in Steubenville, Cincinnati, Chillicothe, and Marietta to facilitate the sale of land in the Northwest Territory. The last federal land office in Ohio at Chillicothe closed in 1876 and all federal land office records were transferred to the Auditor of State's Office in 1877.
